About Us

Lake Guntersville Alabama
The law firm of Cartee & Morris, LLC combines the strengths and talents of its members Jonathan W. Cartee and R. Stan Morris, and provides over 50 combined years of legal experience.
Cartee & Morris, LLC regularly represents individuals, families and classes of persons in both state and federal courts in Alabama and Mississippi, and have also represented clients in other states by permission.  Both members of Cartee & Morris, LLC are also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, a distinction that less than 2% of lawyers nationwide ever achieve.

Cartee and Morris, LLC was founded and principally located in Birmingham, Alabama, where its members had each practiced law for over 20 years prior to its formation. During the years prior to joining forces, both members of Cartee & Morris, LLC worked diligently to develop the skills and expertise needed to successfully represent individuals with serious injuries and the families of those who suffered wrongful death. After joining together and forming Cartee & Morris, LLC the members were called upon to represent two voters from the scenic and historic resort town of Guntersville, Alabama, who wanted to contest a mayoral election that had been decided by just one vote. Cartee & Morris took the case and filed an election contest on behalf of the voters and then won the case following a judgment in their favor at the end of a strenuously defended two-week trial. Thereafter, that decision was affirmed by the Alabama Supreme Court on a 9-0 vote, clearing the way to unseat the long term incumbent mayor.

During the prosecution of the election contest, Cartee & Morris, LLC members R. Stan Morris and Jonathan W. Cartee spent a significant amount of time in Guntersville preparing the case, coincidently developing an affection for the town and an appreciation of Lake Guntersville's beauty and of its varied water-based recreation activities. Following the conclusion of the election contest in their favor, a decision was made to move the day-to-day operations for Cartee & Morris, LLC to Lake Guntersville, but to still maintain a sub-office in Birmingham where Cartee & Morris, LLC had and has numerous ongoing cases.
